Dear Premier,

I am writing to ask you to prioritise funding frontline women’s safety services in your next and future budgets.

I’m concerned about the catastrophic wait times for women and children seeking help from domestic and sexual violence services.

Your current funding decisions mean that women and children impacted by domestic and sexual violence are waiting far too long for help. This waiting is not neutral - it is increasing their risk of harm and compounding their trauma.

Frontline services are doing everything they can to help every person who reaches out. But because your government has chosen to underfund them, workers are forced to make potentially life-changing decisions about who gets help first, and who is told to wait.

Budgets are about priorities. I know your government is shaping its budget priorities right now. I am asking you to make women's safety a genuine priority in this budget - to improve support for women who need help right now.

I would appreciate a response outlining how your government will prioritise funding to address the unacceptable delays for access to specialist domestic, family, and sexual violence services in your upcoming budget, so that every woman and child who reaches out can get the help they need, when they need it.
